About Ward 622
Ward 622 is a 32-bed acute oncology unit, where:
28 beds are dedicated to acute oncology patients.
4 beds provide emergency admissions for oncology/haematology interventions.
We are passionate about oncology nursing and take pride in training and mentoring junior staff and students. As a Band 5 Nurse, you will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare assistants, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, doctors, ward sisters, and the ward manager to provide outstanding patient care.

Your Role & Responsibilities
As a Band 5 Staff Nurse, you will:
✔ Deliver high-quality, evidence-based care within designated clinical areas.
✔ Perform essential nursing procedures and contribute to clinical decision-making.
✔ Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care using the latest knowledge and best practices.
✔ Act as a patient advocate, ensuring a compassionate and person-centred approach.
✔ Promote a clean and safe environment while ensuring compliance with infection prevention and health & safety protocols.
✔ Identify and respond to health risks, promoting illness prevention strategies.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
A degree or diploma leading to NMC registration (Adult, Child, Learning Disability, or Mental Health nursing).
Evidence of continuing professional development (for registered nurses with post-registration experience).
Essential Experience
Experience in an acute healthcare setting (including student placements within the last 12 months).
Willingness to become a Practice Supervisor/Assessor, meeting NMC supervision standards.
Understanding of the NMC Code of Conduct, patient safety, and quality improvement.
Awareness of safeguarding, mental capacity, and health & safety regulations.
Essential Skills & Attributes
✔ Strong communication and interpersonal skills (verbal, written, and IT).
✔ Ability to prioritize, delegate, and manage patient care effectively.
✔ Competency in clinical nursing procedures and a willingness to expand scope of practice.
✔ A caring, compassionate, and enthusiastic approach to nursing.
✔ Flexibility to work a variety of shifts, including nights and weekends.
