We are now recruiting for our Supported Living Service.

The Preston Domiciliary Service in Adult Social Care at Lancashire County Council is looking for caring and reliable Community Support Workers.

We are searching for joyful and positive individuals to join our team and make a difference in the lives of those we support. Our Domiciliary Service requires many Community Support Workers to help us make a significant difference in the lives of the people we support through our Adult Disability Service.

With your positive attitude and kind demeanour, you will be welcomed into people’s homes and make their daily routines more enjoyable. It is not necessary to have a background in health and social care; all you need is a decent heart and a loving personality. We give the necessary training to ensure you get the most out of your work; with certifications available, this is an excellent opportunity to advance in this service and convert it into a career you can be proud of!

We have a variety of hours on offer, including some sleep-ins and weekend employment.

We are looking for…

We seek individuals who are passionate about making a difference in the lives of those we support. Your dedication to the work will be life-changing, bringing comfort with a warm smile and a cup of tea. You will be indispensable in supporting people with personal care, household chores, finances, medication, and other daily needs.

Empathy and resilience are key qualities for this role. You must be able to empathise with those we support and maintain motivation even on difficult days. Our service users’ needs can be complex and challenging, but your determination and dedication to providing excellent care will make it feel easy. Clear communication skills are essential.

This work is highly fulfilling, as you can see the impact you’ve had on someone’s life. Even tiny gestures can make a big difference, and you’ll be relied on for ongoing support and direction. From the moment you start in this position, you will be supported by an induction programme and necessary training. The Adult Disability Service also promotes career development opportunities by providing a variety of qualifications and training – you will be able to take advantage of a QCF qualification (Qualifications and Credit Framework) that is NVQ Level 3 equivalent – as well as a very supportive management team that ensures all team members are guided, a great culture, and the opportunity to work alongside people who share your values.

Why join us?

Our benefits package includes up to 31 days of annual leave, 8 bank holidays, and 2 additional statutory bank holidays. We also offer a generous public sector pension with shared AVCs and discounts on dog care, day care, holidays, Medicash, support groups, cycle to work schemes, and more. You will also be entitled to the Blue Light Card Scheme, which provides additional discounts in a variety of settings. All of this may be seen on the LCC intranet page.

You will receive ongoing support and development during your trip. There are so many options for personal growth and development, making a difference, feeling respected, and achieving the career fulfilment you’ve always wanted.

Our inclusive approach prioritises equality and diversity, and we welcome all candidates.

The Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (as amended in 2013) applies to the role you are applying for. If you are successful, you will need to apply to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) for a ‘disclosure.
