Exciting Opportunity: Pharmacy Technician
We are looking for a motivated, flexible, and forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our dynamic team at Somerset NHS Foundation Trust. Flexible Working & Rotas
We support flexible working arrangements and are open to considering a minimum of 30 hours per week. This role also involves participation in late-night and weekend rotas.
Key Responsibilities & Skills
As a Pharmacy Technician, you will be an integral part of our collaborative team, which includes assistants, technicians, and pharmacists. You will rotate between key areas: Dispensary, Aseptic Services, and Medicines Optimisation on the wards.
Medicines Optimisation
Conduct medicine reconciliation and assess patients’ own drugs.
Provide patient counselling and support discharge facilitation.
Supply medication to wards and the dispensary.
Aseptic Services
Work in our state-of-the-art aseptic suite at the Beacon Production Unit, preparing chemotherapy treatments using specialist equipment.
Dispensary
Dispense medication for inpatients and outpatients, including controlled drugs, using our pharmacy robot.
Participate in the final accuracy-checking rotation and assist the dispensary manager in supervising the team.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential:
NVQ Level 3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) and BTEC in Pharmaceutical Science (or equivalent).
Accredited Accuracy Checking Technician.
Sound knowledge of hospital pharmacy practice.
Experience in dispensing medication and providing patient/carer advice.
Desirable:
In-process Pre-Process Checking (PIPC) qualification for Aseptic production.
Accredited Medicines Optimisation Technician.
Experience in a mental health pharmacy setting.
Experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in a clinical environment.
Contribution to audits and projects.
Experience delivering high-quality training to pharmacy staff.
