Endoscopy Service – Registered Nurse Position

Endoscopy is an innovative and rapidly advancing service, offering a wide range of diagnostic and therapeutic treatments for patients with gastrointestinal (GI) disorders. We provide a 24-hour on-call service for GI bleeds, and our team thrives in a fast-paced environment where there’s ample opportunity to develop specialized skills. The Good Hope Endoscopy team is friendly, supportive, and welcoming, ensuring that all team members feel valued.

Main Duties, Tasks & Skills Required

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated nurses who work well in a team. Following comprehensive training, you will be expected to participate in the ‘on-call’ GI bleed service, operational outside standard hours. Our current Endoscopy service operates five days a week, with plans to expand to a 7-day service once staffing levels allow. Vacancies are currently available at Good Hope Hospital.

Qualifications

Essential:

Professional and clinical knowledge through training to degree/diploma level, leading to professional registration on the appropriate part of the NMC register (Adult/Child/Learning Disability/Mental Health).

Evidence of undergraduate education for newly qualified nurses or post-graduate continuing professional development for registered nurses with post-registration experience.

Experience

Essential:

Previous or recent experience in an acute secondary health and care setting (including undergraduate placements within the last 12 months).

Willingness to become a practice supervisor/assessor and meet NMC standards for student supervision and assessment.

Demonstrable understanding of the NMC code of conduct and the proficiencies/standards for registered nurses, and the ability to apply this in practice.

Accountability as a professional.

Promoting health and preventing illness.

Assessing needs and planning care.

Providing and evaluating care.

Leading and managing nursing care within teams, including prioritization and delegation skills.

Coordinating care and responding to deteriorating health.

Improving the safety and quality of care.

Awareness of current relevant clinical and professional issues and NHS policy.

Understanding of safeguarding and mental capacity principles.

Awareness of health and safety issues.

Desirable:

Experience in an acute NHS practice setting as an undergraduate student nurse or post-graduate registered nurse.
