A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Community Midwife to join our team.

Our team works together to provide high-quality care to the people and communities of Birmingham and Solihull. To accomplish this, we need like-minded people who wish to collaborate with us to provide the best possible care to our women and newborns. The rest we can assist you with.

Main responsibilities, tasks, and abilities required

To be able to analyse, plan, administer, and evaluate midwifery care using a holistic and innovative approach to practice, as well as construct a women-centered, evidence-based care plan.

Support, manage, and educate less junior staff, students, and support workers about important clinical and non-clinical processes and practices. Act as a practice assessor and guide for students as needed.

Perform and maintain clinical procedures competently.

Competently use clinical equipment, with appropriate training as needed.

Communicate and collaborate well with the larger team.

Ability to prioritise task.

Participate in an on-call rota system to assist women who prefer to labour at home or in a birth centre.

Lead professional in providing comprehensive care and assistance to women seeking a home delivery.

Use highly developed physical abilities if appropriate, such as suturing in the client’s home or hospital setting. Carry out all relevant forms of care, including emergency interventions, in the community and hospital settings.

Participate in Clinical Governance by reporting serious incidents and having a proactive approach to service development.

Participate in parent education programs and activities in the hospital/community context.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Midwife on the NMC Register.
  • Diploma or BSc in Midwifery Studies.

Experience

Essential

  • Has worked in a variety of situations and used all midwifery abilities.
  • Understands the implementation of the child protection procedures and the mental health legislation.
  • Can show awareness of existing and upcoming health care concerns.
  • Experience in caring for vulnerable/socially excluded service consumers
