About the Role
The British Museum is looking for an experienced and proactive Management Accountant to join its Finance team and support the delivery of top-tier management accounting services across the Museum. In this role, you will prepare accurate and timely management accounts, forecasts, and analyses while ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
As a Management Accountant, you will oversee a range of financial responsibilities, including preparing materials for consolidated financial statements, liaising with auditors, collaborating with departments on project delivery, and contributing to the Museum’s budgeting process.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborating with management accountants and the accounts processing team to deliver best practice accounting, reporting, and processing services for all Museum staff.
Preparing financial reports, forecasts, and other key financial documentation.
Preparing materials for the Museum’s consolidated financial statements and liaising with auditors.
Ensuring compliance with public sector and charitable sector regulations, standards, and guidelines.
Analyzing the Museum’s income and expenditure streams to monitor performance, drive efficiency, and improve profitability.
Reviewing financial information for business cases and funding applications.
About You
You’ll need to have the following qualifications and experience:
- A degree-level education (or equivalent experience) with an ACA accountancy qualification.
- Strong technical knowledge of relevant accounting standards and the regulatory framework, including income tax, National Insurance (NI), and VAT.
- Proven audit experience, including some post-qualification experience.
- Ability to handle and resolve complex financial issues across multiple areas of the organisation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Capacity to resolve problems efficiently and make informed decisions under pressure.
