Location: University Hospital Wishaw
Contract Type: Band 7 – 2 x Permanent Part-Time Positions (34.5 hours & 21 hours)

Are you a passionate and experienced midwife looking for a leadership opportunity in a supportive and forward-thinking team? NHS Lanarkshire is currently seeking a Charge Midwife / Community Team Leader to join our Maternity & Neonates Team at University Hospital Wishaw.

In this pivotal role, you will work closely with the Senior Charge Midwife to ensure the delivery of high-quality, evidence-based care focused on the needs of women, babies, and their families. You’ll play a key role in both hands-on patient care and strategic planning, helping to implement and evaluate clinical practices across the maternity service.

As a leader, you will ensure that all care complies with NHS Lanarkshire policies and meets statutory requirements in line with NMC guidelines—providing safe, effective, person-centred care.

What We’re Looking For

Essential:

Registered Midwife with current NMC registration

Educated to or working towards degree level

Proven post-graduate expertise within midwifery/community practice

In-depth knowledge of relevant clinical guidelines and standards

Experience in leadership, with the ability to manage teams and deliver care safely and efficiently

Evidence of continuous professional development

Strong communication, interpersonal, and time management skills

Competence with basic IT systems

Desirable:

Recent midwifery or nursing experience

Presentation and facilitation skills

Ability to work at a strategic level

Full UK/EU/EEA driving licence
