Senior Sister / Charge Nurse – Band 7
Location: Emergency Department, Pinderfields Hospital
Hours: Rotational days and nights, 7-day service
An Exciting Opportunity at Pinderfields ED
We are looking for an experienced, motivated, and dynamic Emergency Department nurse to join our senior clinical team at Pinderfields Hospital. This is a rare opportunity to play a key leadership role within our fast-paced, forward-thinking ED, helping deliver outstanding patient care.
About the Role
As a Band 7 Senior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will support the leadership and coordination of a highly skilled nursing team. You’ll be responsible for ensuring safe, effective, and compassionate care across the department while promoting clinical excellence and service development. This role includes both day and night shifts and works across a 7-day rota.
You will play a critical role in workforce planning, staff development, clinical governance, and quality improvement—acting as a visible role model and upholding the Trust’s values at every level.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Leadership
- Lead with compassion, innovation, and a commitment to patient-centred care
- Inspire a positive culture open to change and continuous improvement
- Supervise, mentor, and support nurses across shifts
- Actively contribute to departmental and Trust-wide service objectives
- Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion in both patient care and team culture
Quality & Clinical Governance
- Ensure safe, high-quality care aligned with the Clinical Governance agenda
- Champion patient dignity, advocacy, and involvement in care decisions
- Lead initiatives to meet the 4-hour Emergency Care Standard
- Oversee clinical documentation, risk assessments, and incident management
- Drive evidence-based practice and quality improvement through audit and innovation
People Management
- Support training, supervision, and appraisal of staff
- Lead recruitment and retention efforts
- Manage staff performance, sickness, and wellbeing
- Foster a healthy, collaborative, and inclusive working environment
- Work with educational providers to ensure a rich learning culture for staff and students
