The Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated individual to support the Senior Midwives in a variety of managerial functions within our maternity services. The goal is to help ensure the delivery of a safe, person-centred, and high-quality maternity care service.
This role will span across community, outpatient, and acute services, supporting the managerial elements of the service as directed by the Senior Midwife.
You will be a skilled, knowledgeable, and positive role model who inspires and influences clinical colleagues to achieve their potential as healthcare professionals, all while promoting excellence in patient care. You will also maintain a visible presence within clinical areas, working closely with clinical teams.

What We Need You to Bring:
Qualifications: Registered Midwife on Part 10 of the NMC Register or Registered Nurse on Part 1 of the NMC Register
Educated to degree level or working towards it
Post-graduate expertise in your area of practice, demonstrating the knowledge required for safe, effective leadership
Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards relevant to maternity care
Specialist knowledge of maternity-related conditions, policies, and procedures
Management qualification or equivalent experience
Evidence of continuous professional development, including relevant study days, courses, or qualifications
Strong team-working and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire others
Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
Strong time management and organisational abilities
Basic information technology skills
A valid UK/EU/EEA driving license is required
It Would Be Great If You Also Have:
Relevant current midwifery experience
Professional, leadership, and managerial experience within maternity care
Experience in a leadership role, demonstrating the ability to manage and lead effectively
Critical reasoning and problem-solving skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
Presentation and training/facilitation skills
Contract Details:
Position Type: Fixed-term or secondment for 9 months
Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week
Location: Maternity and Neonatal Services at University Hospital Wishaw
Please Note: This is a fixed-term position for 9 months. If you are an existing NHS Lanarkshire employee interested in this role, the post will be considered a secondment. You must have written approval from your line manager for release on a secondment before applying.
Location and Working Pattern:
The role will be based in the Maternity and Neonatal Services at University Hospital Wishaw. While this advertisement may specify a particular post in a specific location, shortlisted candidates may be considered for similar vacancies at other locations.
