Job Description

About the Role

Leeds College of Building (LCB) is at a defining moment in its growth and innovation journey. Recently named Yorkshire and Humberside’s Regional Construction Technical Excellence College (CTEC) — one of just ten across the UK — we are proud to be recognised for our leadership in technical education, employer collaboration, and industry innovation. Following a successful Ofsted visit in March 2025, which confirmed significant progress in all areas, and achieving an Outstanding financial health rating, we are now seeking an exceptional strategic leader to join our Senior Leadership Team.

As Assistant Principal for Partnerships & Apprenticeships, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of LCB’s apprenticeship and employer engagement strategy. Reporting to the Vice Principal for Curriculum, Quality and Innovation, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for apprenticeship provision (up to Level 3), employer engagement, and partnership development across local, regional, and national levels.

This role requires a visionary leader who can align curriculum delivery with the UK’s evolving skills agenda, ensuring that every apprenticeship programme delivers excellence, innovation, and employability. You will:

  • Lead and grow apprenticeship provision across multiple sectors of construction and the built environment.
  • Ensure curriculum delivery meets national quality standards and reflects local and regional skills priorities.
  • Strengthen relationships with employers, industry bodies, and training partners.
  • Drive curriculum innovation, workforce development, and new business opportunities.
  • Oversee staff performance and professional development to maintain exceptional teaching and learning standards.

You will also champion employer collaboration, ensuring all learners gain meaningful engagement with industry to support career progression and sustainable employment.

About You

You are a strategic, forward-thinking leader with experience in apprenticeships, employer partnerships, or technical education. You will demonstrate:

  • Proven leadership in managing apprenticeship or vocational training programmes.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance, curriculum planning, and Ofsted frameworks.
  • A collaborative approach, capable of building strong relationships with employers, stakeholders, and educational partners.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills to inspire and motivate staff.
  • A passion for construction, technical education, and workforce development.

This is an opportunity for an ambitious leader who combines vision, innovation, and operational excellence to make a significant impact on one of the UK’s leading specialist colleges.
