Job Description
We are looking for an enthusiastic pharmacist to join our growing liver pharmacy team in a Band 8a role, or a Band 7 to 8a progression role depending on experience. The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham is home to a large tertiary liver unit, providing highly specialized treatments, including transplantation. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will help deliver exceptional clinical care to liver patients.
Previous experience in liver care is not essential for this role. This is an exciting opportunity for those interested in liver pharmacy to develop into a specialist role within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide a high standard clinical pharmacy service to liver wards.
Demonstrate expert clinical knowledge in responding to complex queries.
Work collaboratively within a wider team, as well as independently.
Support the development of guidelines and treatment protocols, including shared care.
Actively participate in research and audit initiatives.
Contribute to the ongoing development of the service.
Training and support will be provided to help you develop into this specialist role.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
MPharm degree or equivalent
Clinical diploma (or equivalent) or higher Pharmacy degree
Independent non-medical prescribing qualification or willingness to undertake the programme
GPhC registration
Desirable:
Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
Experience:
Substantial experience as a Band 7 pharmacist (or above) in hospital pharmacy.
Experience across a range of clinical specialties.
Experience in multi-disciplinary team work.
Experience supervising and managing pharmacy staff.
Excellent knowledge of clinical pharmacy and drug use.
Experience of audit work and service development.
Additional Criteria:
Good communication, teaching, and presentation skills.
Strong IT skills, time management, and organizational abilities.
Ability to manage risk and solve problems.
Professional and reliable, with the ability to work under pressure.
Willingness to travel across all sites as required.
