Job Description
About the Organisation
The UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology is internationally recognised for its contributions to neurological research and patient care. Within it, the Department of Neuromuscular Diseases is a major centre dedicated to advancing knowledge and treatment of neuromuscular conditions.
The Centre for Neuromuscular Diseases (CNMD) supports more than 5,000 patients each year through specialised NHS services and plays a leading role in clinical trials and translational research across Europe.
The department works in close partnership with the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, bringing together expertise in neurogenetics, neuroimaging, neuropathology, and clinical neuroscience.
A key part of this ecosystem is the International Centre for Genomic Medicine in Neuromuscular Diseases (ICGNMD), which focuses on identifying genetic causes of neuromuscular disorders—particularly in underserved populations. Research activities are closely aligned with the Neurogenetics Research Group led by Professor Henry Houlden.
