About the School
Established in 1915, SSEES is internationally recognised for its expertise in Central, Eastern, and South-Eastern Europe, as well as Russia and the Baltic region. The School is dedicated to advancing knowledge through interdisciplinary research and teaching, combining perspectives from economics, politics, history, sociology, and cultural studies.

About the Fellowship
This two-year fellowship offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career researcher to pursue an independent research project in Albanian Studies. The appointed Fellow will be expected to produce high-quality academic outputs, including peer-reviewed publications, and actively share findings with both academic and wider audiences.
Alongside research, the Fellow will contribute to teaching within the School. This may include delivering lectures, supporting modules, and supervising dissertations, particularly for students focusing on Albanian-related topics.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver a well-defined research project in Albanian Studies
Publish research outcomes in leading academic journals or equivalent platforms
Engage in teaching activities across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
Supervise student dissertations in relevant subject areas
Participate in academic collaboration and contribute to the intellectual life of the School
Promote the visibility and development of Albanian Studies within the institution
Candidate Requirements
Applicants should demonstrate:
- A completed PhD in a relevant discipline (e.g. History, Politics, Sociology, Linguistics, Anthropology, or related fields)
A strong research proposal aligned with Albanian cultural, historical, political, or social themes
Evidence of academic writing and publication potential
Fluency in the Albanian language
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Some experience in teaching or academic collaboration (desirable)
Preference may be given to candidates specialising in contemporary topics.
