Role Overview
This part-time Housekeeper role offers an opportunity to contribute directly to patient wellbeing by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming healthcare environment. Working within the Hotel Services team, you will support both cleaning and basic catering tasks across patient, office, and shared areas.
The role is especially meaningful as you will be supporting individuals with mental health conditions and learning disabilities—where a well-maintained environment plays an important role in recovery and comfort.
Your Day-to-Day Responsibilities
As a Housekeeper, you will:
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness across clinical and non-clinical areas
Support food preparation and service where required
Use cleaning equipment and materials safely and effectively
Follow hygiene, safety, and infection control procedures
Interact respectfully and compassionately with patients and visitors
Promote a positive and inclusive environment for all service users
Assist in maintaining quality standards and continuous improvement
You will be expected to work both independently and as part of a wider team, adapting to changing priorities when needed.
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (or willingness to achieve within 12 months)
Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy skills
IT skills (Level 2 or equivalent)
Desirable Qualifications
- NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping (or willingness to work towards it)
Essential Experience
- Experience in general cleaning duties
Familiarity with cleaning equipment and chemicals
Experience working or volunteering in a mental health or learning disability setting
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience in a hospital or healthcare environment
Catering or food service experience
Knowledge & Understanding
You should have:
- Awareness of Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
Understanding of cleanliness standards in healthcare
Knowledge of deep-cleaning processes
Awareness of PLACE standards (Patient-Led Assessments)
Understanding of confidentiality and patient dignity
Key Skills
- Strong attention to detail
