Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and motivated individual to take on a supervisory role within Hotel Services. You will be responsible for leading a diverse team that supports the day-to-day running of essential non-clinical services, including cleaning, catering, portering, and reception.
Your role will be central to maintaining a safe, clean, and welcoming environment—an important factor in supporting patient wellbeing and recovery, particularly within mental health and learning disability services.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Hotel Services Supervisor, you will oversee the smooth delivery of services across the site. Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing and coordinating daily activities of Hotel Services staff
Supervising housekeepers, domestics, porters, catering staff, receptionists, and support teams
Ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food service are consistently met
Monitoring performance and addressing any issues promptly
Supporting quality improvement initiatives and service development
Promoting a positive, respectful environment for patients, carers, and staff
Upholding safety, infection control, and operational procedures
You will also ensure that all services meet required standards and contribute to a positive experience for everyone using the facility.
Working Pattern
- Full-time: 37.5 hours per week
Shift-based rota between 6:45 AM – 6:15 PM
Includes weekends and bank holidays
Flexibility required to work across different locations if needed
Leadership Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead, support, and motivate a multidisciplinary team
Plan staff rotas and manage day-to-day staffing requirements
Provide on-the-job training and assess staff competency
Support staff development and performance management
Work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) in a relevant subject
Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (with willingness to progress to Levels 3 and 4)
Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy skills
Essential Experience
- Proven experience supervising or coaching staff
Experience using IT systems such as Microsoft Office
Desirable Experience
- Experience working in a mental health or healthcare environment
Knowledge & Understanding
- National Standards of Cleanliness
Health & Safety and COSHH regulations
Basic HR processes and procedures
Stock control and resource management
Confidentiality and data protection principles
Desirable Knowledge
- PLACE (Patient-Led Assessments of the Care Environment)
