Role Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Band 7 Team Manager to lead the Wellbeing in Mind Team within Hambleton & Richmond.
This service forms part of the national Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs) initiative, delivering early intervention and mental health support directly within schools and colleges. The aim is to improve access to emotional wellbeing support for children and young people in educational settings.
As Team Manager, you will provide operational leadership, service development, and strategic oversight to ensure high-quality, evidence-based support is delivered across partner schools.
Service Model – Core Functions
The Wellbeing in Mind Team delivers three equally weighted areas of work:
1. Whole School/College Approach
- Support schools to develop and embed mental health and wellbeing strategies
Contribute to policies, frameworks, and wellbeing action plans
Deliver assemblies, workshops, PSHE input, and awareness campaigns
Create resources that promote emotional wellbeing across education settings
2. Consultation & Advice
- Provide structured and informal consultation to education staff
Support teachers and school staff to recognise and respond to mental health needs
Build confidence and skills in managing student wellbeing concerns
Strengthen early identification and intervention pathways
3. Direct Clinical Work
- Carry out assessments and low-intensity interventions for young people
Deliver evidence-based approaches, primarily Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Support recovery-focused short-term interventions within schools
Key Responsibilities (Team Manager Role)
- Provide operational leadership across the Wellbeing in Mind Team
Manage staff performance, supervision, and professional development
Lead service delivery across multiple education settings
Work collaboratively with schools, local authorities, and partner agencies
Support development of pathways, policies, and new service models
Contribute to reporting, evaluation, and service improvement outcomes
Ensure safe, effective, and evidence-based practice across all team functions
Manage competing priorities and ensure efficient service delivery
Leadership & Collaboration
You will work as part of a wider locality leadership team, including Clinical Leads and other Team Managers. Together, you will:
- Develop new care pathways and service innovations
Strengthen partnership working across education and health sectors
Promote integrated approaches to children and young people’s mental health
Ensure consistent service quality across the locality
Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- Current registration with a recognised healthcare or social care professional body (e.g. nursing, psychology, social work, PWP/CWP)
Educated to Master’s level, or equivalent professional experience at Band 6 level or above
Training in Clinical Supervision and providing supervision
Practice Assessor / Practice Supervisor status (or working towards)
Experience
- Significant experience managing staff within healthcare or mental health services
Experience working with children and young people with complex mental health needs
Proven experience in delivering clinical supervision
Experience working collaboratively with schools, families, and partner agencies
Experience in safeguarding, risk assessment, and clinical governance
Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of Mental Health Act 1983
Understanding of Mental Capacity Act 2005
Safeguarding children legislation and guidance
Ability to manage risk and complex clinical presentations
Knowledge of inter-agency and partnership working models
Experience in quality improvement approaches
