Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) to step into a Band 7 Community Team Lead role within the Learning Disability Additional Support Team (AST), based at Red Lodge, Larbert.
This is a permanent, part-time post (30 hours per week) offering the chance to lead a specialist community service that supports individuals with learning disabilities who may be experiencing crisis situations or complex forensic needs.
The post holder will provide visible, confident leadership while ensuring high-quality, evidence-based, person-centred care is delivered consistently across the service.
Service Purpose
The Additional Support Team plays a key role in supporting people with learning disabilities who present with:
- Acute crisis and escalating behavioural needs
Complex risk presentations
Forensic or offending-related concerns
High levels of vulnerability requiring coordinated multi-agency support
The service works closely with health, social care, and justice partners to ensure individuals receive safe, structured, and compassionate support that promotes independence, rights, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
In this leadership role, you will:
- Lead and coordinate the delivery of crisis and forensic community learning disability services
Manage a mixed caseload, including individuals with complex risk and behavioural presentations
Provide clinical oversight, ensuring safe and effective care planning
Support and supervise staff within the multidisciplinary team
Promote recovery-focused and rights-based approaches to care
Contribute to risk management and safeguarding processes
Work collaboratively with partner agencies including social work, forensic services, and community teams
Support service development, change management, and quality improvement initiatives
You will also play a key role in ensuring care aligns with relevant legal and policy frameworks, including national learning disability standards.

Qualifications and Requirements
Essential:
- Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) with NMC registration
Proven experience in learning disability services
Leadership or supervisory experience within a clinical setting
Understanding of safeguarding principles and risk management
Knowledge of relevant legislation including:
- Mental Health Act
Mental Capacity Act
Care Act 2014
Desirable:
- Experience in forensic learning disability services
Experience managing complex or crisis caseloads
Training or qualifications in leadership or clinical supervision
Experience in service development or quality improvement

- This role requires membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme
The post is subject to DBS/PVG background checks in line with safeguarding legislation
