About the Role
An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled and creative Medical Photographer to join the Clinical Illustration team. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical photography expertise with patient-focused healthcare work.
You will contribute directly to clinical care by producing high-quality medical images that support diagnosis, treatment, education, and communication. The role offers variety, working across multiple healthcare settings and specialties.
Where You’ll Work
You will provide services across several sites, including:
- King’s Mill Hospital
Newark Hospital
Ashfield Health Village
Mansfield Community Hospital
What You’ll Be Doing
- Capture accurate clinical images to support patient care, including dermatology, wound care, and surgical procedures
Carry out specialist imaging such as ophthalmology photography and teledermatology
Undertake studio-based photography for documentation, education, and promotional purposes
Ensure all images meet clinical, ethical, and legal standards
Work closely with clinicians and healthcare teams to understand imaging needs
Maintain patient dignity, privacy, and consent at all times
Manage and organise digital imaging records securely
What We’re Looking For
Essential:
- Postgraduate qualification in clinical photography (or equivalent experience)
Strong technical and creative photography skills
Experience working in a clinical or hospital environment
Ability to communicate sensitively with patients and their families
Experience using professional photography equipment and studio setups
Good organisational and teamwork skills
Desirable:
- Membership of the Institute of Medical Illustrators (IMI)
Experience with imaging equipment such as OCT or fundus cameras
Knowledge of software such as Adobe Photoshop
Understanding of consent, confidentiality, and data protection laws
