About the Role
This is a senior and highly specialised opportunity for an experienced Clinical Neuropsychologist to take on a leadership role within older adult mental health services in South Somerset.
Working across the Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) and Dementia Assessment & Support Service (DASS), you will play a central role in improving the lives of older adults experiencing cognitive, emotional, and behavioural difficulties—particularly those linked to dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions.
You will be part of a well-established, supportive psychology network that encourages collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and continuous professional development.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead on complex neuropsychological assessments, diagnosis, and formulation for older adults
Assess and manage cognitive and behavioural changes linked to dementia and related conditions
Develop personalised care plans and contribute to cognitive rehabilitation strategies
Provide psychological support to patients and families adjusting to diagnosis
Offer expert consultation, training, and supervision to multidisciplinary colleagues
Promote evidence-based practice and contribute to service development
Work collaboratively with integrated teams to deliver holistic and person-centred care
What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Registration:
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist
Chartered membership with the British Psychological Society (BPS)
Inclusion on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists (SRCN)
Doctoral-level qualification in Clinical Psychology (BPS-accredited or equivalent)
Essential Experience:
- Extensive post-qualification experience in neuropsychological assessment and diagnosis
Experience working with older adults, particularly those with dementia
Strong background in supervision, teaching, and multidisciplinary teamwork
Knowledge of risk management and clinical governance
Experience contributing to service development and quality improvement
Desirable:
- Training in clinical supervision
Experience working across diverse cultural settings
