Chaplain – Spiritual and Pastoral Care (Part-Time)

Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a compassionate and dedicated Chaplain to join its Department of Spiritual and Pastoral Care. This role is ideal for someone committed to delivering inclusive, respectful, and patient-centred spiritual support within a healthcare setting.

Role Overview

As a Chaplain, you will provide pastoral, spiritual, and religious care to patients, their families, and staff across the Trust. Your responsibilities will include responding to referrals, visiting wards and departments regularly, and contributing to a 24/7 on-call rota to support urgent and emergency situations.

A key part of the role involves bereavement support, including conducting funeral services for families experiencing pregnancy or baby loss, child bereavement, or for individuals who pass away without next of kin.

You will also act as a specialist advisor on spiritual, pastoral, ethical, and religious matters, working collaboratively with healthcare teams and external faith and belief communities to ensure inclusive, high-quality care.

Working Pattern

Part-time: 15 hours per week (2 days)
Participation in an out-of-hours on-call rota
Working days to be agreed
Based at King’s Mill Hospital, with responsibilities across all three Trust sites
