Your Key Responsibilities
Food Preparation & Service
- Prepare and serve meals in line with approved recipes and procedures
Ensure meals meet required standards for quality, nutrition, and presentation
Maintain correct food temperatures during preparation and service
Food Safety & Compliance
- Follow food hygiene regulations and safe working practices at all times
Carry out routine checks, audits, and documentation
Maintain a clean, safe, and organised kitchen environment
Understand food safety standardsÂ
Planning & Organisation
- Anticipate daily catering needs and order supplies accordingly
Coordinate menus, ensuring all dietary requirements are met
Monitor stock levels and minimise waste
Patient Interaction & Support
- Act as a point of contact for wards regarding meals and dietary queries
Support patients’ nutritional needs by ensuring appropriate meal options
Gather feedback to improve meal quality and service
Teamwork
- Work collaboratively within the catering team
Participate in rota-based meal production
Contribute to maintaining a positive and efficient working environment

Person Requirements
Essential
- NVQ Level 3 (City & Guilds) or equivalent in Catering
Basic Food Hygiene certification
Experience working in a catering or kitchen environment
Knowledge of food preparation, hygiene, and safety procedures
Desirable
- Understanding of special dietary needs
Basic health and safety knowledge
