Overview
We are looking for a skilled and proactive professional to join our organisation as a Patient Safety Manager. This is a key role within our Patient Safety Team, offering the opportunity to influence how safety is managed, improved, and embedded across a wide range of healthcare services.
You will play an important part in strengthening systems, ensuring learning from incidents leads to meaningful improvements, and supporting a culture where patient safety is at the centre of everything we do.
This position is offered on a 34-hour per week basis (Monday to Friday) with flexible and hybrid working arrangements.

Your Role
Leadership & Oversight
- Lead and coordinate the Patient Safety Team, including supervision of junior staff
Support the Patient Safety Service Lead and oversee day-to-day safety operations
Ensure compliance with national safety standards and frameworks
Patient Safety & Improvement
- Drive implementation of the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework (PSIRF)
Oversee incident triage, investigation, and learning response reviews
Promote continuous improvement through learning from incidents
Data, Analysis & Reporting
- Analyse patient safety data to identify trends and risks
Produce high-quality reports to support decision-making
Contribute to organisational governance and quality improvement
Advisory & Training
- Provide expert guidance to clinical teams and senior leaders
Deliver training and promote a positive safety culture
Support engagement with patients, carers, and stakeholders
Collaboration
- Work across departments including safeguarding, complaints, and risk
Engage with external partners to improve system-wide safety outcomes

Person Requirements
Essential
- Master’s level education (or equivalent experience) in patient safety, human factors, or related field
Accredited training in patient safety investigations
Strong experience in patient safety within NHS or social care
Experience managing complex incident investigations
Excellent communication, analytical, and report-writing skills
Ability to influence and drive change across teams
Desirable
- Experience in teaching or training delivery
Background in governance, audit, or quality improvement
Experience working across multidisciplinary teams
