Job Description
Take the lead in surgery and shape your own caseload
This is a great opportunity for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon who wants to focus more on surgery and take real ownership of their clinical work. If you’ve been looking for a role where your surgical skills can grow—and where you can truly make your mark—this position offers exactly that.
Based in the welcoming market town of Daventry, you’ll step into a practice where your surgical interest is not only supported but needed.
Why this role is different
Unlike many roles where surgical cases are shared across a team, here you’ll become the go-to vet for surgery. With no other surgically focused vets on site, you’ll naturally build and manage your own caseload, giving you the chance to:
- Strengthen your confidence in surgery
Expand into more advanced procedures over time
Develop a clinical niche within the practice
You’ll also be supported by a friendly, experienced team and a loyal client base who value continuity of care.
The practice environment
The clinic is well-equipped to support both routine and more complex cases, with facilities including:
- Ultrasound and ECG
Dental suite
In-house laboratory
Separate wards for cats and dogs
The location offers a balance of peaceful countryside living with convenient transport links via the M1 and A45, making it both accessible and enjoyable to live in.
Your role in practice
You’ll have a varied and rewarding workload, combining surgery with general clinical responsibilities.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Performing a wide range of surgical procedures
Managing cases from consultation through to recovery
Creating tailored treatment plans for patients
Building strong, trusting relationships with clients
Supporting and mentoring colleagues within the team
Working pattern
- Full-time: 40 hours across 4 days
Part-time applications welcome
Weekend rota:
- 1 in 3 Saturdays, or
1 in 6 full weekends at a nearby 24-hour hospital
No out-of-hours commitments

Holds MRCVS qualification
