About the Role

The Capital Projects Team at the University of Sussex is seeking an experienced Project Manager (Infrastructure) to lead the delivery of services infrastructure projects across the full project life cycle.

In this role, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, coordination, and delivery of projects — managing resources in a matrix environment, working closely with project sponsors, and engaging with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include

  • Developing and implementing detailed project plans, including scope, resourcing, and cost management.
  • Overseeing project delivery from feasibility through to completion.
  • Managing communications and stakeholder engagement at all levels.
  • Ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in line with University standards and strategic priorities.

This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to the development and sustainability of the University’s estate while managing meaningful infrastructure projects within a world-class institution.

About You

You will have:

  • Proven experience initiating and managing small to medium-scale capital infrastructure or construction projects in a complex organisation.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • The ability to prioritise, delegate, and ensure tasks are completed to a high standard.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to convey technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Confidence in analysing data, identifying effective solutions, and making sound decisions.
  • Your ability to build effective relationships and influence a wide range of stakeholders — including senior leaders — will be key to success in this role.
