Job Description
Job Summary
Somerset NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Interventional Radiology to join our dynamic and expanding Radiology Department at Musgrove Park Hospital. This fixed-term post (6–12 months) offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to a comprehensive imaging and interventional service within a leading District General Hospital.
We value wellbeing and work-life balance, offering flexible job plans, hybrid working options, and remote PACS access for home reporting.
Our department has undergone significant modernisation, including a newly refurbished 45m² interventional suite featuring Siemens Artis-Q, DynaCT, Cydar AI, IVUS, and lithotripsy facilities, along with a dedicated 5-bed Radiology Day Unit. Over 70% of vascular interventions are now delivered as day cases, with consistent achievement of 5-day C-QuIN targets.
Looking ahead, our brand-new 79m² hybrid IR theatre will open in 2025 as part of the new Surgical and Critical Care Wing — reflecting our commitment to innovation and excellence.
Applicants must hold Specialist Registration with the GMC, or be within six months of obtaining their CCT/CESR at the time of interview. Candidates without GMC Specialist Registration may be appointed under the Specialist Contract in accordance with NHS Employers’ national terms and conditions.
