Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safe, efficient, and effective delivery of all pharmacy services at Pharmacy@UHB, Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, in alignment with both national and local standards.
- Provide leadership and serve as a role model for the support staff within Pharmacy@UHB Ltd.
- Fulfill all statutory responsibilities as required by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and Department of Health (DoH).
- Contribute to the development of a high-quality, timely pharmacy service for patients.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with prescribers.
- Support the development of additional clinical or patient-centered services.
- Play a role in optimizing the profitability of the business.
- Contribute to the efficient administration and management of the business.
- Collaborate with and support the pharmacy manager/superintendent.
- Work closely with the pharmacy manager and other pharmacists to minimize the need for locum staff.
Main Duties, Tasks & Required Skills:
- Lead and support the development of all pharmacy staff, ensuring the delivery of effective inductions and performance management for an appropriately qualified and flexible team.
- Provide professional leadership and advice to all pharmacy staff.
- Ensure that the pharmacy service provided is patient-centered.
- Provide clinical and professional leadership, offering supervision to the pharmacy team with proper record-keeping.
- Identify and support training opportunities for staff, ensuring compliance with the Code of Ethics and the requirements of the GPhC.
- Contribute to processes for assessing pharmacy staff competency.
- Participate in performance appraisals, creating training plans for all pharmacy staff members.
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective work processes for staff to follow.
- Address any disciplinary matters in the absence of the pharmacy manager, ensuring they are handled fairly, promptly, and professionally, with accurate record-keeping.
- Be available to ensure adequate staffing levels to meet the expected workload.
