Job Description
Personal Care:
Assist with washing and bathing.
Help with dressing and undressing.
Support clients with dental hygiene.
Putting to Bed:
Assist with undressing and dressing.
Provide washing or bathing as directed.
Ensure clients are safe, comfortable, and properly positioned in bed.
Toileting:
Accompany clients to the toilet.
Assist clients with the use of a commode.
Empty the commode as needed.
Change incontinence bags.
Ensure clients are comfortable during toileting.
Ensure clients are clean after using the toilet.
Meals:
Supervise clients during mealtime or provide meals on wheels.
Prepare light snacks and cook meals.
Provide clients with hot or cold drinks.
Feed clients who are unable to do so themselves.
Always be mindful of the client’s dietary needs.
Medication:
Administer medication only when instructed by a home care consultant.
Remove medication from the dosette box and place it in a small medication beaker or the client’s hand as preferred.
Supervise clients while they take their medication.
Return medication to the dosette box after administration.
Apply creams or lotions as instructed and wash hands immediately afterward.
Record medication taken on the daily report sheet.
Report any refusal of medication to a home care consultant immediately.
Domestic Services:
Perform housework, including cleaning, laundry, and ironing.
Assist with shopping and pension collection.
Change or make beds.
Escort Service:
Accompany clients to appointments or visits as required.
Sitter:
Stay with clients for an agreed number of hours, providing support as needed, including the tasks mentioned above.
Collection of Client Contributions:
Collect a client contribution as outlined in the care plan.
Issue a receipt for the money collected and provide it to the client.
Submit the collected contribution to the office weekly, along with a written report.
Reporting Changes in Client’s Circumstances:
Report to the office immediately if you cannot gain access to a client’s home.
Report any changes in a client’s circumstances or condition promptly.
Report if you are issued keys to a client’s premises by someone other than the office.
Notify the office of any Health and Safety hazards you perceive in the client’s home.
