Job Overview:
We are looking for a compassionate and dedicated individual to join our church community as a Welfare Officer. In this essential role, the Church Welfare Officer will provide support and care to members of our congregation who are facing difficult life circumstances. This position requires a heart for service, excellent interpersonal skills, and a deep commitment to fostering compassion and community within our church family.
Responsibilities:
- Offer emotional and spiritual support to individuals and families going through challenges such as illness, bereavement, or other hardships.
- Visit members in hospitals, nursing homes, or their homes to provide comfort and companionship.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify individuals or families in the congregation who may need assistance.
- Collaborate with church leaders and relevant committees to determine the best ways to meet the identified needs.
- Work with community resources, social services, and other organizations to ensure that support services are available to those in need.
- Keep an up-to-date database of available resources and services.
Crisis Intervention:
- Provide immediate support during crisis situations, including natural disasters, accidents, or unexpected financial difficulties.
- Coordinate with emergency services and authorities when necessary.
- Advocate for individuals or families with external agencies to ensure fair treatment and access to the appropriate services.
- Keep the congregation informed about available resources, services, and ongoing welfare initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in pastoral care, counselling, or social work.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Empathy and a non-judgmental approach to a variety of challenges.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities.
