Make a Lasting Impact Through Research
Are you passionate about turning academic research into real-world impact? Join the University of Reading as a Research Impact Officer and help bring to life groundbreaking work across our Heritage & Creativity (H&C) and Prosperity & Resilience (P&R) research themes. You’ll play a key role in shaping how our research informs public engagement, policy development, social inclusion, economic progress, and cultural enrichment.
About Our Research Themes
Heritage & Creativity (H&C)
Our H&C theme explores how history, the arts, and humanities shape society today. With a focus on global issues such as migration, disability, heritage, and diversity, this theme champions innovative collaborations through museums, archives, digital media, and creative industries. Our research sparks public dialogue and supports inclusive, culturally enriched communities.
Prosperity & Resilience (P&R)
P&R asks vital questions: What drives human prosperity? How do we build resilience to economic, environmental, or political shocks? This theme fosters cross-sector partnerships and practical responses to today’s most urgent social challenges.
Your Role and Responsibilities
As Research Impact Officer, you’ll:
- Collaborate with researchers and external partners to enhance Public Engagement with Research (PER).
- Support the development of impactful projects in both H&C and P&R themes.
- Contribute significantly to the delivery of the University’s REF (Research Excellence Framework) impact strategy.
- Coordinate and evaluate PER across REF Units of Assessment:
- H&C: Units 15, 26, 27, 28, 32, 33
- P&R: Units 18, 19, 22, 23
- Assist in the development of REF Impact Case Studies.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applicants who bring:
- A strong understanding of impact pathways and how to achieve them in academic contexts.
- Experience in Public Engagement with Research (PER) and its practical implementation.
- The ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across academic and professional services.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
