Job Purpose

Join the University of Glasgow to deliver top-notch financial management reporting across our institution. You’ll provide expert technical support through sharp analysis and problem-solving, enhance processes within a robust control framework, lead key statutory financial returns, and boost training on budgeting and reporting.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

Assist the Senior Finance Analyst and Head of Management Accounts with month-end coordination—managing timetables, processing transactions, and preparing standard reports.

Consolidate and scrutinize monthly results and yearly forecasts, creating a reporting pack for review with senior team members before it reaches the Finance Office Directorate and Senior Management Group.

Drive improvements in financial reporting (e.g., salary forecasting, research reporting, budget systemization), collaborating with external consultants and College Finance teams to refine current practices.

Pull together budget inputs, analyze them against past performance and strategic goals, and highlight key insights for Senior Management Group discussions.

Take charge of preparing sector-specific statutory returns—like HESA Finance, Knowledge Exchange (KE), HE-BCI, and TRAC—ensuring accurate data allocation while working with teams across Planning, Research, Estates, and College Finance.

Handle ad hoc financial queries from internal (e.g., Senior Management Group) and external (e.g., Scottish Funding Council) sources, delivering timely, reliable answers aligned with service standards and regulations.

Enhance the Management Accounting team’s service to College Finance teams by cutting inefficiencies, understanding customer needs, and collaborating with Financial Accounting staff to ensure accurate, efficient reporting using standardized processes.
