Job Description

JOB DESCRIPTION

A modern, customer-centric service that ensures buildings are safe, accessible, and energy efficient for all of our inhabitants and visitors.

Bracknell Forest, a prosperous neighbourhood in the heart of Berkshire but only a short distance from London, provides a variety of fascinating challenges and opportunities for building control specialists, including a mix of residential and commercial industrial complexes.

We are searching for an experienced team member who can work independently, manage their own caseload, and support their Principal Building Control Surveyor with more junior members of the team as needed. The ideal applicant will already be working at a senior level, however submissions from individuals looking to advance to a senior job will be considered.

You’ll be joining our proactive, customer-focused Building Control team, which has been involved in some exciting developments in recent years, including our ongoing multi-million-pound town centre redevelopment, major healthcare redevelopments and several large housing developments throughout the borough.

After being crowned Council of the Year in 2018, you will join a team that has been working with our construction clients to ensure the safety of local residents and shoppers during our town’s continuous regeneration, resulting in a top 30 shopping destination and new fit-for-purpose homes in the area.

We’re searching for someone to join us and keep the momentum continuing as the team transforms to meet the standards of the Building Safety Regulator.

Because we are Bracknell Forest.

What is it like to work in our team?

The service places a premium on having an onsite presence and providing excellent client service, as well as being accessible and adaptable.

You will receive support to perform the following duties, responsibilities, and training.

  • Working with a Principal Building Control Surveyor to provide the building control service in one of the team regions.
  • Plan checking.
  • Site inspections.
  • Licences for hoardings and scaffolding, as well as dangerous structures.
  • Professional growth to attain the appropriate level for BSR validation as needed.

You will receive the following benefits:

  • Generous annual leave starts at 28 days and increases to 33 days after three years of service (pro rata for part-time). With an additional yearly leave buy policy.
  • We provide a hybrid working paradigm to encourage flexible working around personal and family commitments.
  • A fully digital, paperless service with a digital mobile working environment.
  • Professional membership fees.
  • An inclusive and social working atmosphere with diverse worker networks.
  • Regular possibilities for growth through internal and external training sessions.
  • A fantastic office site near transport links and the redeveloped town centre.
  • Internal sports and social club opportunities.
  • An intensive employee assistance programme (EAP) to promote health and well-being.
  • Memberships to the leisure centre and gym are discounted.
  • Supermarket discounts.
  • Local government pension plan / Life insurance coverage.
