About the Role

We’re looking for a forward-thinking Digital Development Librarian to join our newly established Library, Culture and Heritage Division. In this pivotal role, you’ll lead the optimisation and implementation of our digital library systems and collaborate with senior colleagues to develop innovative solutions that support students, researchers, and the wider community.

Your work will be grounded in user-centred design and strong stakeholder engagement. You’ll help shape the future of our digital services, ensuring they are accessible, effective, and aligned with evolving needs.

About You

You’re seeking a dynamic, purpose-driven role where your technical expertise can make a meaningful impact. You bring:

  • Experience in a digital development or systems role, ideally within a library, heritage, or cultural environment
  • Strong organisational and planning capabilities
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and stakeholder relationship-building experience
  • A data-informed approach to problem-solving and decision-making
  • A proactive attitude toward innovation and continuous service improvement
  • A track record of evaluating and enhancing system performance

While experience in higher education is desirable, we’re equally interested in your transferable skills and fresh perspective.

About the Division

Formed in 2024, our Library, Culture & Heritage Division includes:

  • The University Library – a renowned research hub with internationally significant collections
  • The Keep – a public archive service delivered in partnership with East Sussex County Council and Brighton & Hove City Council
  • The Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts – an interdisciplinary arts and cultural venue

Additional Information

This is a hybrid role, with an expectation of working on campus three days a week and remotely for two days.

The role is expected to start in September 2025.
