A Day in the Life of a Chef de Partie at the Marine Hotel Paignton

What you will do…

The following are the duties you can expect to perform while reporting to the Head Chef.

You will be responsible for ensuring that all food products are cooked, presented, and served to the required standards under the supervision of the Head Chef.

  • Cooking meals in a timely manner with various methods and procedures.
  • Ensure that all foods are of high quality.
  • Clean and sanitise all food preparation areas in accordance with established hygiene requirements.
  • Ensuring a pleasing plate presentation.
  • To receive ordered goods and ensure that the items supplied meet the appropriate standards and quality.

What We Need from You

To succeed as Chef de Partie, you will need the following attributes and skills.

  • The capacity to comply with the company’s laws and regulations on policies and procedures related to fire, hygiene, health and safety, and licensing restrictions.
  • Ability to oversee diverse portions of the kitchen while ensuring health and safety regulations are met.
  • To be flexible in your approach, and able to assist the Sous Chef and any other members of the kitchen brigade when needed.
  • A team member who thrives in the hustle and bustle of a bustling kitchen area.
  • Someone who is passionate about cuisine and eager to learn.
  • Previous experience in a similar job, at either Chef de Partie or commis level.
  • Understanding of quality control and kitchen standards.
