Endoscopy Practitioner Opportunity at The New Foscote Hospital
The New Foscote Hospital has proudly served the Banbury community for over 40 years, offering high-quality services and treatments to thousands of patients from the region. With over 60 expert consultants, who are leaders in their respective fields, we offer a collaborative environment alongside our skilled and dedicated nursing and support teams. As the hospital continues to expand, including the opening of a second theatre, we are excited to invite experienced Endoscopy Practitioners to join our exceptional team.
Please Note: Only candidates with full UK registration with the NMC or HCPC and previous UK work experience will be considered for this role.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assist the Endoscopy Manager in the effective operation of the Endoscopy department.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the Endoscopy Unit.
- Ensure the delivery of a safe, high-quality, patient-centered endoscopy service.
- Maintain professionalism and adhere to the NMC Code of Conduct.
- Monitor and support the delivery of patient care, respecting patients’ dignity, privacy, wishes, and beliefs.
- Actively engage in hands-on activities within the endoscopy suite.
- Foster continuous learning, development, and skill enhancement for yourself and others.
- Promote evidence-based practices.
- Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Accept delegated responsibilities within your scope of practice.
Key Responsibilities:
- Complete all written documentation efficiently.
- Provide safe and appropriate care for patients during their time in the Endoscopy department.
- Maintain accurate patient care records and track progress.
- Ensure the working environment is safe and complies with company, professional, and legal standards.
- Adhere to Infection Prevention and Control policies.
- Coordinate with Oxford University Hospitals decontamination team regarding endoscope availability.
- Assist the Endoscopist during procedures and be competent in using snares and collecting polyps/biopsies.
- Admit, recover, and discharge patients in a timely manner.
- Monitor patient discomfort/pain levels and take necessary actions to ensure patient comfort.
- Deliver quality care throughout the endoscopy patient journey.
- Address any discrepancies affecting patient safety and provide specialist advice as needed.
- Support staff with in-service training and development.
- Uphold the highest standards of patient care, adhering to clinical governance frameworks and participating in clinical audits.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC registration.
- Basic and advanced competence/qualifications in Endoscopy Care and Decontamination.
- Operators Course in Endoscopy Decontamination.
- Familiarity with standards and external bodies (CQC, GRS, JAG, HTM 01-06).
- ILS Training (provided by us regularly).
- At least 1 year of experience as a registered practitioner or equivalent in endoscopy.
- Safeguarding (Adults) Level 3 and practical knowledge in safeguarding within healthcare.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
- Tact, diplomacy, and flexibility to respond to urgent matters.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Reliable, adaptable, and willing to embrace new ideas and processes.
- Excellent time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
