About the Role

Westmorland and Furness Council is seeking a Drainage Technician to join our Highways Operations Team. In this key role, you will help maintain and enhance the drainage network across the area by supporting the delivery of the highway drainage programme.

You will be involved in managing the gully cleansing programme, investigating and addressing drainage defects, and assisting in implementing asset management systems. This position also requires collaboration with contractors, ensuring compliance with the Council’s Highways Gully Cleaning & Maintenance Code of Practice, and contributing to the accurate tracking and recording of drainage assets and issues through digital tools.

Who We Are Looking For

We are looking for a motivated individual who is eager to gain experience in a specialized area of highways operations. The Drainage Technician will play a crucial role in improving the drainage service’s efficiency and effectiveness. By supporting the digitalization of systems and improving data accuracy, you will directly contribute to public safety, environmental protection, and the Council’s ability to meet its statutory obligations under the Highways Act.
