About the Role
The University of Sussex is seeking a Staff Wellbeing Advisor to support and enhance employee health and wellbeing across the institution.
Working within the Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you will act as a key liaison between central services and Schools/Divisions. You will help deliver the University’s People Strategy and contribute to the wellbeing priorities within the Sussex 2035 Strategy.
Your role will involve developing and promoting a comprehensive wellbeing framework that supports staff across four key areas: mental, physical, social, and financial wellbeing. You will also manage the occupational health provision to ensure high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective services for staff.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide expert advice on staff health and wellbeing issues
Support delivery of the University’s wellbeing strategy and initiatives
Act as a key contact between HR, Schools, and Divisions
Develop and maintain an inclusive wellbeing framework
Manage and monitor occupational health services and contracts
Promote wellbeing initiatives across mental, physical, social, and financial areas
Handle sensitive wellbeing disclosures with professionalism and confidentiality
Use data and feedback to improve wellbeing services and engagement
About You
You will have:
- Strong knowledge of workplace health and wellbeing practices
Understanding of occupational health services and relevant legislation
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to explain complex policies clearly and influence stakeholders
Strong organisational and project management skills
Confidence working independently and managing priorities
Good IT skills (particularly Microsoft Office tools)
Ability to handle sensitive situations with discretion and professionalism
