Overview of the Role

This is a senior academic and clinical opportunity within Brighton & Sussex Medical School (BSMS), designed for a clinician with expertise in clinical pharmacology and a passion for teaching and research. The role combines academic leadership with clinical responsibilities, offering the chance to influence both medical education and patient care.

The successful candidate will hold an honorary consultant position with University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust, contributing clinically across hospital sites while also shaping the academic direction of pharmacology teaching within the medical school.

You will be involved in developing future doctors through innovative teaching methods, while also maintaining an active research profile that contributes to advancements in therapeutics and patient care.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality teaching in clinical pharmacology across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes
Contribute to curriculum development, including modern teaching approaches such as simulation and digital learning Support and enhance assessment processes within medical education
Engage in research activities aligned with your academic interests and institutional priorities
Provide clinical services as an honorary consultant physician across partner NHS sites
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across academic and clinical environments

About You

You will be a medically qualified professional with dual accreditation in clinical pharmacology and therapeutics, as well as general internal medicine. Alongside your clinical expertise, you will bring a strong commitment to education and scholarly activity.
