About the Company
Our client is a leading independent consultancy with over 50 years of experience delivering engineering and advisory services across infrastructure, energy, environmental, and urban development sectors. With a strong international presence, they support both public and private sector clients on projects ranging from transport and water to renewable energy and rural development.
They are currently expanding their UK presence and are seeking a highly skilled Senior or Principal Geotechnical Consultant Engineer to join their growing team in Leeds.
Role Overview
This is an excellent opportunity for a geotechnical professional with a civil engineering background to take a leading technical role on a variety of UK and international projects. Offshore geotechnical experience is desirable but not essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in project delivery, technical leadership, and potentially, team management as the office expands.
You’ll be involved from concept through to detailed design, working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams across the UK and globally. Immediate involvement in active projects is available.
Key Responsibilities

Deliver geotechnical design and consultancy services across a range of infrastructure projects.

Lead or contribute to foundation design, ground investigations, and geotechnical assessments.

Support or lead project teams, mentoring junior engineers as needed.

Interface with clients and stakeholders on technical matters and project delivery.

Help grow the Leeds geotechnical capability, with potential to build and lead a local team.

Contribute to proposals, bids, and business development activities.
Requirements

Chartered Engineer (CEng) or equivalent status.

5–10 years of relevant geotechnical experience.

Strong technical expertise in geotechnical engineering and foundation design.

Ability to work independently and lead small teams.

Excellent communication, client engagement, and report writing skills.
Desirable Experience in one or more of the following:

Pile design in chalk and glacial till
-
Offshore geotechnical design (e.g. wind farms, ports)

Rail infrastructure (stations, depots)

Embankment and cutting design

Ground improvement techniques
