Job Description
About the Role
Join a pioneering team at the forefront of space technology. Our client is developing cutting-edge power systems for next-generation satellite propulsion. We are seeking a Senior Power Electronics Engineer to lead the end-to-end development of innovative power electronics systems critical to our upcoming satellite missions.
This is a unique opportunity to take full technical ownership—from concept through to testing—of systems that will operate in one of the most demanding environments: space.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the design, simulation, prototyping, and optimization of advanced power electronics circuits and PCB layouts
Develop and refine DC-DC and DC-AC converters, power conditioners, and high-efficiency power supplies for inductively coupled plasma systems
Perform modelling, control system design, and stability analysis of power converters
Validate hardware performance through hands-on testing and correlation with simulation models
Ensure compliance with EMI/EMC standards, while maintaining high levels of system reliability and efficiency
Collaborate cross-functionally with mechanical, software, and systems engineering teams to integrate power electronics into full satellite subsystems
Required Qualifications and Skills
MSc, PhD, or equivalent degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related discipline
Minimum of 3 years’ experience in power electronics design (industry or academic research)
Strong background in analog and digital circuit design
Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools such as:
LTSpice, TINA-TI, MATLAB/Simulink
CST, Maxwell, COMSOL (for EM and thermal modelling)
Hands-on experience with multiple converter topologies including DC/DC, Class D, and Class E inverters
Preferred/Desirable Skills
Experience in space-grade or aerospace power electronics design
Knowledge of high-voltage systems (up to 5kV)
Background in thermal modelling and electromagnetic design
Expertise in inductive power transfer, wireless power systems, or RF generators
Familiarity with zero-voltage high-frequency switching techniques
Knowledge of reliability analysis, including FMECA, and closed-loop control architectures for power converters
Understanding of EMI/EMC compliance and mitigation strategies
