Role Overview
This is a unique and forward-thinking opportunity for a psychologist to join the Clinical Simulation team at a leading children’s hospital. The role sits within the Learning Academy and focuses on using simulation-based education to improve healthcare practice, staff development, and patient outcomes.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team to design and deliver innovative simulation programmes that integrate psychological principles into healthcare training. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining clinical psychology, education, and system-level impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
In this role, you will contribute to shaping how healthcare professionals learn and develop through simulation.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Designing and delivering simulation-based education programmes
Embedding psychological and therapeutic approaches into training
Supporting workforce development, with a focus on human factors and non-technical skills
Evaluating the effectiveness of training initiatives and improving learning outcomes
Collaborating with clinical teams to understand educational needs across services
Acting as a psychology expert within simulation-based learning environments
Supporting coaching, mentoring, and career development within the workforce
You will also contribute to broader organisational strategies aimed at improving patient safety and experience.

Essential Requirements
Qualifications
- A psychology degree accredited by the British Psychological Society (or equivalent conversion course)
Doctoral-level training in psychology or equivalent postgraduate qualification
Evidence of ongoing professional development
Desirable
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
Qualification in education or teaching
Experience & Knowledge
Essential
- Experience facilitating or contributing to simulation-based learning
Understanding of educational theory in clinical settings
Experience delivering teaching or training in healthcare
Involvement in research or quality improvement initiatives
Desirable
- Curriculum or programme development experience
Academic publications or conference presentations
Skills & Attributes

Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
