About the Role

The University of Sussex Business School is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee the smooth day-to-day running of its activities while also leading key operational projects.

This is a varied and hands-on role where you’ll work closely with both academic and professional services teams. You’ll play an important part in ensuring the School operates efficiently, while also identifying ways to improve systems, processes, and event delivery.

The position suits someone who enjoys solving problems, managing complexity, and bringing new ideas to improve how things work.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Overseeing daily operational functions within the Business School
    Managing and delivering operational projects from planning through to completion
    Working closely with senior leadership to support strategic goals
    Coordinating logistics for events and academic activities
    Identifying and implementing process improvements
    Supporting cross-team collaboration and communication

About You

To succeed in this role, you’ll need a strong operational background and the ability to work confidently with a wide range of stakeholders.

You should have:

  • Experience in areas such as HR, finance, health & safety, or facilities/infrastructure
    Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage at all levels
    A track record of delivering high-quality service, ideally within a university or similar environment
    Good organisational and problem-solving abilities
    Confidence in managing multiple priorities and deadlines
