About the Role
The University of Reading is seeking to appoint a Lecturer in Pharmaceutical Chemistry to join its dynamic and interdisciplinary School of Pharmacy.
This role offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to both teaching and research within a supportive academic environment. You will be part of the Division of Pharmaceutics and Pharmaceutical Chemistry, working alongside colleagues across chemistry, pharmacy, and related disciplines.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Delivering high-quality teaching in pharmaceutical and cosmetic sciences
Designing and assessing coursework and examinations
Conducting and publishing research aligned with pharmaceutical chemistry
Supporting academic administration and contributing to programme development
This is an ideal role for someone who is passionate about combining scientific research with student-focused teaching.
 Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver engaging lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions
Develop innovative teaching materials and assessment strategies
Carry out independent and collaborative research
Contribute to academic leadership and administrative activities
Support curriculum development within the School of Pharmacy
 About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic academic with strong subject expertise and a commitment to excellence.
You should have:
- A first degree and PhD in Chemistry, Pharmacy, or a closely related field
Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical chemistry principles
Experience teaching in higher education settings
A developing or established research profile in pharmaceutical science
In addition, you will demonstrate:
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
Confidence working both independently and within a team
Strong analytical, numerical, and IT skills
A flexible and adaptable approach to teaching across subject areas
A commitment to continuous professional development
