About the Role

This is a senior leadership opportunity for an experienced clinician to shape the future of mental health support for children and young people.

As an Advanced Clinical Specialist, you’ll lead the Wellbeing in Mind Teams (WiMT)—locally delivered Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs). With national expansion aiming to reach all schools by 2030, this role offers a rare chance to influence large-scale service transformation.

You’ll play a central role in redesigning and developing services to ensure they remain trauma-informed, evidence-based, and responsive to the needs of young people.

 What You’ll Be Doing

 Clinical Leadership

  • Provide visible and expert leadership across multiple teams
    Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality, evidence-based interventions
    Support complex clinical decision-making and safeguarding processes

 Service Development & Strategy

  • Lead on redesigning and improving clinical pathways
    Use data, feedback, and national guidance to drive service improvements
    Contribute to long-term planning as services expand toward 2030

 Workforce Development

  • Supervise, mentor, and support staff across teams
    Promote reflective practice and continuous professional development
    Build a resilient, skilled, and compassionate workforce

 Partnership & Collaboration

  • Work closely with schools, commissioners, CAMHS teams, and system partners
    Represent the service at local, regional, and national levels
    Strengthen integrated working across health, education, and community sectors

 About the Service

The Wellbeing in Mind Teams (WiMT) are part of a national initiative to improve early intervention mental health support in schools and colleges.

The service focuses on:

  • Supporting children and young people with mild to moderate mental health needs
    Delivering interventions within educational settings
    Promoting emotional wellbeing and resilience
    Working collaboratively with families, schools, and communities

 About You

 Essential Qualifications

  • Registration with a relevant professional body (e.g. NMC, HCPC, GMC, Social Work England)
    Postgraduate Diploma (or higher) in a relevant clinical field
    Advanced clinical qualification or Master’s level study (or willingness to achieve within 1 year)
    Training in clinical supervision and staff development

 Experience & Expertise

Significant experience at Band 7 or above in children and young people’s mental health services
Experience working within:

  • Early intervention or prevention models
    Multi-agency or embedded services (e.g. schools)
    Geographically dispersed or community-based teams

You’ll also demonstrate:

  • Advanced clinical reasoning and decision-making
    Strong leadership and service development skills
    Confidence working autonomously in complex situations
