Overview

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated individual to lead an innovative Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the University of Reading and Nirvana Spa, one of the UK’s leading wellness destinations. This 36-month project, funded by Innovate UK, aims to develop and implement bespoke, science-led wellness programs combining spa therapies, nutrition, and health education.

You will be employed by the University of Reading, but primarily based at Nirvana Spa in Sindlesham, Wokingham (Berkshire), with monthly visits to the University (approx. 3–4 days/month).

Key Responsibilities

Design and implement innovative wellness programs that support both physical and mental wellbeing.

Integrate evidence-based approaches from health psychology and nutritional science into spa offerings.

Conduct research to assess the effectiveness of the developed programs, using behavioural science methodologies.

Provide insights and recommendations to Nirvana Spa’s leadership team to influence and enhance service offerings.

Act as a knowledge bridge between academic research and commercial wellness practice.

Professional Development

£6,000 personal training and development budget.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for an enthusiastic and commercially aware individual who can effectively apply scientific research to a real-world wellness environment.

Essential Criteria:

A Master’s degree or PhD in Psychology, Nutritional Sciences, or a closely related field – or equivalent professional experience.

Demonstrated interest in health, wellness, and innovation.

Strong understanding of behavioural science and/or nutrition in the context of wellbeing.

Proven ability to conduct and interpret research to support business goals.

Strong project management skills with the ability to balance multiple priorities.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Experience working with industry or contributing to commercial projects.
