With such a diverse portfolio, the Estates Team at Reading never has a dull day. In addition to managing and maintaining the University’s academic teaching and research buildings, we look after a large collection of Champion Trees, an expansive lake, and the university SportsPark.

We are looking for a highly driven and flexible individual to join the Maintenance Services team as Contracts Managers in Estates.

The post holder will be in charge of procuring and delivering maintenance contracts, which will primarily support the planned preventative maintenance strategy. They will guarantee that maintenance contracts are completed to specification and under budget in a safe and complex multi-stakeholder setting. You will have the technical expertise to administer the programme in a way that ensures a safe, dependable, and cost-effective service.

You will be responsible for managing our designated external contractors in our large and diverse estate, reflecting the University’s statutory responsibilities.

You’ll have:

  • A background in building services.
  • Proven contract management skills.
  • Experience in procurement techniques and legislative knowledge that may be applied to tender and contract processes.
  • A commercial approach that ensures contracts are delivered within budget
  • Experience administering planned, preventive maintenance programmes and works in a diverse estate.
  • Awareness of current statutory requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with a variety of stakeholders.
  • A constructive and proactive approach to managing health and safety, promoting its importance in contract management, and how to implement this in a diverse estate.
  • Good IT knowledge with expertise using CAFM systems and the Microsoft Office package.
