Salary: Circa £65,000 per annum

Location: Stratford Market Depot

Role Overview
We are seeking a Track Network Inspector to join our Track Maintenance and Renewals team. This critical role involves inspecting and maintaining our extensive rail network in line with London Underground (LU) standards and frequencies. You will conduct both scheduled and ad-hoc inspections, ensuring compliance, identifying and managing third-party risks, and addressing any necessary repairs to safeguard the safety of the public, staff, and the integrity of the network.
Key Responsibilities
Perform regular inspections to identify track issues and develop practical solutions, including necessary repairs, to maintain track safety standards.
Identify and resolve third-party risks, particularly those affecting LU infrastructure.
Review and prioritize faults from PM5 inspection reports, updating the management system as required.
Complete planned general inspections to ensure compliance with LU standards.
Engage with customers, neighbours, and stakeholders to address complaints, escalating issues when necessary.
Generate clear, concise, and accurate work orders for fault resolution across the network.
Provide well-structured reports to highlight trends and offer recommendations.
Participate in team meetings to discuss and present findings from inspections.
Supervise contractors, ensuring work is completed to the required standards.

Skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) – Essential.
Strong communication skills, able to engage with stakeholders at all levels – Essential.
Analytical approach to data management and problem-solving – Essential.
High attention to detail and accuracy – Essential.
Leadership skills to support team development – Essential.
Experience in stakeholder management – Essential.
Full UK driving license – Essential.
Knowledge
Inspection license (SCL T002/3) – Desirable.
Knowledge of Railsys for track access management, or the ability to learn – Essential.
Understanding of Health & Safety regulations in the railway environment – Essential.
Familiarity with track systems, standards, and construction techniques – Desirable.
Knowledge of scrap management, including handling redundant materials like rails, spoil, and sleepers – Desirable.
Experience with IOSH certificate, PWT-EH, and PTS certification – Desirable.
Experience
Proven track inspection experience – Essential.
Previous experience in the track environment – Essential.
Experience working with engineers’ trains or similar operations – Essential.
Waste management or HAZMAT experience – Desirable.

Additional Information
Working hours: Nights, 23:00 – 06:30, Monday to Friday / Sunday to Thursday. Occasional day or weekend work may be required.
This is a safety-critical role, so you will need clearance from our Occupational Health team before starting.
