Detailed job description and primary responsibilities

As part of the multi-professional team, you will provide high-quality prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal midwifery care to women and their families in an integrated maternity service. Rotate through all clinical areas of maternity services to support professional growth and provide safe midwifery care in accordance with service provision.

Main duties –

Provide high-quality midwifery care to mothers and newborns during the prenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal periods.

Make autonomous clinical judgements in an emergency to ensure safe outcomes for both mother and baby.

Capable of working autonomously in all facets of midwifery practice.

  • NMC Part 10 Register or Equivalent
  • Experience (placement or post-grad) in both the wards and delivery suite sectors.

Experience

Essential criteria

  • Minimum introduction to IV cannulations, suturing, scrubbing in theatre, epidural top-ups, and newborn resuscitation.

Desirable requirements.

  • Previous experience as a midwife or Band 5 grade nurse.
  • Working in a setting where “normality in midwifery” is the primary focus (MLC) unit.
  • Previous experience working in the community.
