We are happy to be looking for Senior Sous Chefs to join our team. This role is in our hotel’s kitchen, and you will report directly to our Head Chef, who supervises The PIG and the Village Pub.

In January 2024, we purchased the 17th century Barnsley House hotel, which is nestled in the idyllic Cotswold town of Barnsley, approximately four miles from Cirencester. THE PIG – and The Village Pub provides guests with a classic example of an English rural garden that changes with the seasons, as well as a kitchen garden that will supply vegetables for our 25-mile menu.
The role:
As Senior Sous Chef, you’ll need to be a true leader. Having great interpersonal abilities to help our Head Chef manage our kitchen team.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Confident with the general operation of the kitchen.
- Maintain excellent supplier partnerships.
- Helping our Head Chef manage food prices and budgets.
- Working together with our Kitchen Gardeners to utilise our kitchen garden produce.
- Rotations for the kitchen team are being planned.
- Competent understanding of health and safety rules, food handling, and dietary needs.
- Encourage development and help the culinary team improve their abilities.
- Take an active role in guiding, training, and encouraging our kitchen apprentices.
Experience as a Senior Sous Chef in a similar setting is necessary.
