About the Role

The UCL Institute of Archaeology invites applications for the position of Geospatial Archaeologist as part of the ERC-funded project ‘EVERYDAYISLAM: Becoming Muslim: Cultural Change, Everyday Life and State Formation in Early Islamic North Africa (600-1000)’. This full-time role (36.5 hours per week) is available until 31 December 2025, with the possibility of extension.

The successful candidate will work closely with Professor Corisande Fenwick and the project team, primarily responsible for digitising cartographic and archaeological data, managing the project’s database, and analysing and presenting the spatial data from excavation sites. The role involves processing geospatial data from Morocco and Tunisia, producing maps, archaeological plans, and illustrations for publications. Additionally, there will be opportunities to develop your own research interests, including leading publications, in line with the overall project objectives.

Skills in digitising archaeological site plans and sections, as well as other forms of archaeological illustration (artefact illustration is a plus, but not essential).
