Tees Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a reliable and compassionate Housekeeper to join its Hotel Services Team at Eastfield Clinic in North Yorkshire.
This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming environments while supporting patients receiving mental health and learning disability services. Working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, you will help create a positive atmosphere that contributes directly to patient wellbeing and recovery.
The successful candidate will work flexible shifts between 7:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Friday, with opportunities for additional hours when required.
About the Role
As a Housekeeper within the Trust’s Hotel Services Team, you will provide a combination of cleaning, catering, and support services across patient, staff, and communal areas.
The role involves maintaining high standards of hygiene, safety, and customer service in a healthcare environment where attention to detail and empathy are essential.
Main Responsibilities
Your day-to-day duties may include:
- Cleaning patient rooms, offices, communal areas, and clinical spaces
Carrying out deep cleaning procedures in line with NHS cleanliness standards
Using cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and effectively
Operating motorised cleaning equipment such as floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners
Supporting food preparation and serving duties
Cleaning kitchen equipment and regeneration ovens
Assisting with laundry, washing, and ironing tasks
Following infection prevention, COSHH, and health & safety procedures
Working professionally with patients, visitors, and healthcare teams
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Food Hygiene Certificate Level 2 (or willingness to achieve within 12 months)
Literacy and numeracy skills equivalent to Level 2
IT skills equivalent to ITQ Level 2
Desirable Qualification
- NVQ Level 2 in Housekeeping or willingness to work towards completion
Essential Experience & Skills
Candidates should demonstrate:
- Experience using cleaning materials and equipment
Previous general cleaning experience
Experience working or volunteering in mental health or learning disability settings
Knowledge of COSHH and Health & Safety regulations
Understanding of confidentiality and professional standards
Strong communication and organisational skills
Ability to follow procedures and work independently
Attention to detail and ability to maintain high cleaning standards
Desirable Experience
- Hospital or healthcare cleaning experience
Knowledge of NHS National Standards of Cleanliness
Understanding of PLACE assessments
Experience using kitchen and catering equipment
